How to Make Cold Brew Coffee at Home
When the Australian summer heat kicks in, there's nothing better than a smooth, refreshing cold brew coffee.
Unlike traditional iced coffee, cold brew coffee is brewed slowly using cold water over an extended period. The result is a coffee that's naturally sweeter, less acidic, and incredibly easy to drink.
At Australian Warfighters Coffee, we recommend our Nightstalker blend for cold brew. Its bold character, smooth finish, and rich flavour profile make it the perfect choice for a refreshing cold coffee that doesn't compromise on strength.
How to Make Cold Brew Coffee at Home
Cold brew coffee is made by steeping coarsely ground coffee in cold water for an extended period, creating a smooth, full-bodied coffee concentrate that can be enjoyed black, over ice, or with milk.
What You'll Need
Ingredients
- 100g coarsely ground Nightstalker Coffee
- 1 litre cold filtered water
Equipment
- Large jar or French press
- Fine mesh strainer
- Coffee filter or cheesecloth
- Storage bottle or container
Step 1: Grind Your Coffee
Use a coarse grind, similar in size to raw sugar or sea salt.
A coarse grind ensures a clean extraction and helps prevent unwanted bitterness.
Step 2: Combine Coffee and Water
Add:
- 100g Nightstalker Coffee
- 1 litre cold filtered water
Stir gently until all coffee grounds are fully saturated.
This 1:10 ratio creates a strong cold brew concentrate that can be diluted to your preferred strength.
Step 3: Let It Steep
Cover the container and leave it to steep for:
12–18 hours
You can steep it at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
For a stronger flavour and fuller body, aim for around 16 hours.
Step 4: Filter the Coffee
Pour the mixture through a fine mesh sieve.
Then run it through a paper coffee filter or cheesecloth to remove any remaining sediment.
The result should be smooth, clean, and ready to drink.
Step 5: Serve and Enjoy
Pour over ice and enjoy.
Serve it:
- Black
- With milk
- With oat milk
- With cream
- As a refreshing, iced latte
For a lighter drink, mix equal parts cold brew and water.
For maximum flavour, enjoy it straight from the concentrate over plenty of ice.
